#TBT Pulp Fiction
I was in rehearsal for the 1st revival of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and the buzz in rehearsals was about this new filmmaker that had this edgy new film with John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson. We all knew John Travolta’s work and Samuel L. Jackson was coming off of massive success with then newbie director Spike Lee in such films as Jungle Fever and Do The Right Thing.
So we all piled up in cars and headed to the nearest movie theatre to see it. I immediately got the comedic elements and the irony of the whole flawed hit man with biblical backgrounds and laughed my booty off.
The filmmaker was Quentin Tarrantino and to date has not released one film without some sort of controversy being attached to it. His edgy out of the box directing was rewarded when he won the Oscar that year for Pulp Fiction. Samuel L. Jackson received the first of many Oscars nominations and John Travolta was honored with his first Oscar nod since Saturday Night Fever.
Check out below why Pulp Fiction is one of the greatest films ever made…
