Viola Davis is a President with Skills in G20

What happens when the G20 summit goes off the rails and it is up to the President of the United States to not only get it back on track, but saves their lives including those she loves dearly.

Wakanda and Viola Davis hit the White House in a crypto action adventure thriller where her real life military training serves her well! With an all star cast laden with familiar faces from television and film, you will root for THIS POTUS loud and proud.

Directed by Patricia Riggen, written by Caitlin Parrish, Erica Weiss, and Logan and Noah Miller, G20 is solid proof that not only do women get it done, but seems to be the first time I recall witnessing an EGOT winning Black superstar lead the charge to victory cinematically.

If you weren’t convinced of Davis’s physical prowess after seeing “The Woman King,”  you will be over the moon watching her accomplish it all in a dress armed with AK 47’s.  Get ready for the film that is giving “Die Hard” meets Wakanda for the perfect action thriller.

As her right hand man, Ramón Rodriguez is equally as impressive and a far cry from the pulled up crime detective Will Trent (who he portrays on ABC-tv).  Not only does Rodriguez get a little dirtied up, but proves his talent isn’t linear or boxed.  Nor do Marsai Martin and Anthony Anderson, who have reunited for this project from their hit Peabody prize winning hit sitcom “Black-ish.” Martin is the “all mouth” daughter with more bark than bite, but uses that bark to bite the villains in the butt with her technical prowess.  Anderson is supportive, but not by any stretch of the imagination passive as The First Gentleman, which we haven’t seen him do onscreen since his stint on NBC’s “Law and Order” and as a cast member of Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed.”  He’s strong, subtle which is a far cry from his comedy roots and I was there for all of it.

The action sequences were bananas and engaging on every visceral level.  But, what I mostly loved about G20 is this is usually a genre reserved for white men and women in the lead.  It was more than refreshing to witness Viola Davis changing that narrative, especially during a twist that will have Black folks screaming at the screen outloud! Don’t take my word for it, hop over to Prime Video and see for yourself.
