Baggage Claim is Cute Comedy for Jill Scott and Paula Patton

Baggage Claim was the last movie I wanted to see having just abruptly ending a relationship due to a misunderstanding.  However, I’m really glad I did!!!   I laughed so hard my stomach was in knots and this film made me forget all about the uncomfortable ease I was experiencing during my brief, but intense relationship.

You see, me and Montana (Paula Patton) had a lot in common.  We both contemplated going backward to some exes in order to see if any of them would make a suitable mate now.  When that didn’t work, we both made a plan.  Montana flew around the country meeting her exes on her flights where she worked as a flight attendant and I retreated to the internet for dating.  Montana discovered that the love of her life lived next door,  Me?  Well, let’s just say that I thought I had stumbled on Mr. Right only to discover that the only person he was right for was himself.  However, I still have hope that there is someone out there who will love me for the lovable, complicated woman I am.

The cast was perfect.  Jill Scott and Adam Brody as Gail and Sam were hilarious as Montana’s co-workers and best buddies. Derek Luke was remarkably endearing as Montana’s childhood friend and future fiance’ William Wright and my girl Jenifer Lewis, who has played the mother to Angela Bassett and Whitney Houston to name a few, has a particularly poignant and touching scene with Montana (Paula Patton) that will bring tears to your eyes.  Definitely a departure from what we are used to seeing from Ms.Lewis.

David E. Talbert wrote and produced this film. I have to give him a shootout and kudos for making us look like “real” people and not a cartoon of what someone “thinks” black and “gay” people look and act like.  Thank you David…we appreciate you and look forward to even more of your stories on the screen.  Baggage Claim is in theaters now.  Please check your local listings for a theater near you…
