Avengers: Endgame Makes Fans All About That Superhero Life

NON-SPOLIER REVIEW…

My Mom and I have been fans of the  Marvel Cinematic Universe for decades.  Spiderman and Black Panther were my dudes, with a close second of Agent Carter. My Mom loved Ironman, Thor and Captain Marvel. Having been my screening buddy for the last ten years of this franchise, it goes without saying that we had to close it out with Avengers: Endgame.  Just yesterday the Avengers: Endgame cast consisting of Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Marie Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and producer Kevin Feige had their glitzy Hollywood opening and were preserved for posterity at TCL Chinese Theatre with a hand and footprint ceremony with remarks from non other than legendary film critic Leonard Maltin.

When we last saw The Avengers in Infinity War, several characters were turned to dust leaving audiences devastated and wondering how and why so many of their favs had met such an unexpected and untimely demise.  We wondered what Thanos was doing after collecting the infinity stones and the gauntlet.   Well, in the aftermath of Thanos’ destruction, the remaining Avengers are faced with finding resolve within themselves in order to find a way to defeat Thanos once and for all. We wondered and eagerly anticipated what the final chapter would hold for its loyal fans of nearly 22 films.  I can wholeheartedly report that Avengers: Endgame addresses all that with humor, humanity and an epic war scene that is by far the only one I’ve seen where I wasn’t looking at my watch praying that it would all come to an end sooner than later.

One of the things I’ve come to love the most about Marvel film is that their universe is just as diverse as the world we inhabit in real life. Executive Producer Louis D’Esposito said it best, “…People enjoy coming to movies like that. We proved that with ‘Black Panther.’..With ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame,’ you really get to see what a diverse and broad swath of characters populates the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is something for everyone, and it’s all connected together in a way that feels authentic and real.”

Relationships, families, the cost and sacrifice what it means to be a superhero, love, disconnect, conflict, girl power and most of all humanity have always been an enormous part of the franchise and continue with the final chapter.  Cleveland natives and Directors – Anthony and Joe Russo are revolutionary visionaries who had the foresight, vision, passion and risk factor with each superhero chapter of the Marvel Universe giving fans something to look forward to, care about and bond as members of the human race,  A task that is very rare and practically non-existent throughout today’s global society…let alone in cinema.  This final chapter provides many Easter egg moment, some of which will leave you with your jaw dropped to your crack.

Through my tear-stained Captain Okoye t-shirt, I’m so incredibly happy to have witnessed such an epic moment in film history.  Also, saddened as I ponder what is next on the horizon.  At the end of the day, I am one who is truly all about that “super hero” life.  The last and final chapter of The Avengers – Avengers: Endgame opens on April 26th.  Might wanna grab those ticket sooner that later as this one will be sold out for a minute.

Oh…and check back on the 26th to see a more detailed review.  I’m really trying to #dontspoiltheendgame until them:)
