Enchanting generations of wide-eyed children and adults alike,

The New York City Ballet will for the first time mesmerized audiences nationwide with George Balanchine’s “The Nutcracker” as it debuted on the big screen in over 600 movie theaters across the country for two nights only on Saturday, December 5th and Thursday, December 10th as the concluding film of “Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance,” hosted by Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan.

Since its debut in 1954, George Balanchine’s “The Nutcracker” has been performed exclusively in New York City and seen by more than 100,000 annually. Set to the beloved score of Tschaikovsky, audiences are transported to a magical world where mischievous mice besiege a battalion of toy soldiers, and an onstage blizzard leads to an enchanted Land of Sweets. In the New York City Ballet’s famously extravagant staging, Balanchine’s stunning choreography shines amidst awe-inspiring set pieces, ornate costumes, and grand one-of-a-kind visual effects, like the one-ton Christmas tree that grows to an astonishing 40 feet.

“Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance” is presented by Emmy award winning Executive Producer Andrew C. Wilk, with each film to include extra features including interviews with the principal dancers, exclusive behind the scenes footage and informative segments that will provide an inside look at their exquisite productions.

Take a look at what you missed and be on the lookout for it next year!!!  However, if you live in NYC you can go to Lincoln Center NOW through January 3rd and check it out!
