When the 2016 Presidential Election took place, my Mom and I went to vote together because we were confident the glass ceiling would be shattered by electing Hillary Clinton as President of the United States.

Even when things began to take a turn for the worst, I was assured I would awaken to fantastic news! Needless to say, I grossly underestimated the elections results and my faith in a fair election. A reality star, millionaire and a man who once appeared in the feature film Home Alone 2, was now the leader of the free world.

What the hell happened? Everyone political pundit around the world’s famous last words were “He’s not going to be President of the United States!!!” This is an individual who made lewd comments about grabbing women by their private parts, insulted Muslims, African-Americans, Mexicans, disabled and the list goes on for miles. Yet, he now occupies the oval office with such nicknames as Cheeto-In-Chief, Mango Mussolini and many, many more.

With many pundits weighing in on both sides of the issue, from both camps, the easiest way to explain his victory is simply that Trump had a microphone, a hat, fat bank account, Putin and Twitter.

With the final image resting on a press conference between Trump and outgoing President Obama (who Trump criticized and berated for 8 years), Obama graciously stated to the press corps, “If you succeed, then the country succeeds”.

I guess we will just have to wait and see. Man, it’s gonna be a really long four years.
