Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Hold Back in HULU Documentary Series

Years ago, I found myself singing background at a fundraiser for the Children’s Defense Fund run by Marian Wright-Edelman at Lincoln Center.  The highlight of that night was meeting then First Lady Hillary Clinton.  I was intrigued as I had never met a First Lady who appeared to be as strong, confident and warm.  It was those qualities along with her decades of political expertise that had two generations of African-American woman running to the polls to vote for my Mom and thought was about to become the First Femaie POTUS.  We now know how that turned out.  Yet once again, we are left wondering what is it about strong, smart women that intimidates Americans as we heartbreakingly witnessed Elizabeth Warren drop out of the 2020 Presidential race this week after less than stellar voter turnout on her behalf.

Much like Warren, everyone has an opinion about Hillary Rodham Clinton that doesn’t fall within the grey area.  People either adore or revile her and she undeniably represents many different things to many different people.  Nanette Burstein’s comprehensive Hulu four-part documentary series interweaves biographical chapters of Clinton’s life with previously unreleased behind-the-scenes footage from her 2016 presidential campaign, resulting in an exceptionally intimate look at one of the most powerful and recognized political female figure in the history of American politics.

What I am most appalled by is the manner in which men and women considered to be her equals, would reduce her existence on this earth as a woman relegated to home life and the kitchen.  Susan B. Anthony and many others along the way did not march, get beaten and treated with such disparity so that women could not have the right to live in a manner they see fit.  Not every woman desires to be a wife and mother.  Some women would like to have careers and a family.  What’s so wrong with that?

Hillary Clinton shoots straight from the hip and often times without a filter.  Not everyone can handle that type of candid honesty.  I should know.  It’s the one thing I have in common with the former Secretary of State.

If you have watched the news over the few decades, there are very few revelations you will learn during the course of this doc.  However, I did walk away with the knowledge that she is the most investigated innocent person in America who was ahead of her time and not of THIS time. She is human, therefore fallible and capable of making mistakes just like the rest of us. I learned that she and her husband former President Bill Clinton have an unbreakable bound that spans decades.  Most importantly I learned that trying to run a Presidential campaign in a social media age resulted in more challenges that even she didn’t anticipate.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is polarizing for the simple fact that she is a woman with power.  Period.  Here’s wishing, hoping and praying that after viewing Hillary, folks will learn to look at one’s qualifications as opposed to their gender.  It’s not over and at the end of the day #ImStillWithHer.  HILLARY debuts on HULU on March 6th and if you value our democracy, it would behoove you to check it out – like yesterday.

Sir, I am talking about a FILM and how I felt about the subject. Keep your politics and visceral hatred and name calling to yourself. You don’t HAVE to read my reviews and you certainly DON’T have feel compelled negatively

Furthermore, you have shown that you are just another in a long line of keyboard cowards who love to attack smart, confident women. Grab a coke and a smile and shut the hell up😎🙏🏽😉
