Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is Ghoulish Fun

The Goosebumps book series was one of my favorites growing up.  That R.L. Stine sure knows how to creep a girl out…lol.  Having said that, I enjoyed the first Goosebumps immensely. Check out that review when you get a minute…Goosebumps !!!

Me and Slappy got along famously…luckily for me

Goosebumps 2:  Haunted Halloween introduces us to a new set of kids named Sam (Caleel Harris) and Sonny (Jeremy Ray Taylor)discover the magic book when they get a call to pick up junk from R.L. Stine’s (Jack Black) old digs for their newly formed company Junk Brothers.  Needless to say, shortly after discovering the book, its unlocked – yet again and Slappy is out and wreaking havoc by bringing Halloween and his old friends to life.

Wendi McClendon-Covey makes this movie.  From ABC’s Goldbergs to Goosebumps, she never misses a beat and is hysterical every single time she opens her mouth with the best one-liners ever!  Not far behind her is Ken Jeong (Mr. Chu) playing that neighbor on the block that is just doing way too much with his holiday decorations.  But, the scene where the Sonny and Sam are fighting off teeth fanged gummy bears had me dying!!!

The first half moves at a clipped pace and then it drags a bit until Stine shows up to save the day while imparting wisdom to an aspiring young Sarah (Madison Iseman) like “write what you know.”  Nevertheless, the family will enjoy it and have a hair-raising time!  Produced by Columbia Pictures Goosebumps 2:  Haunted Halloween will hit theaters TODAY with a national roll-out on Friday, October 12th.
