Christian Bale IS Dick Cheney in Adam McKay’s VICE

With the recent passing of George H.W. Bush, Adam McKay’s VICE is more timely than ever. Â Just like The Big Short, McKay flies threw the passage of time effectively conveying the story of the VP to the 41st President of the United States – Dick Cheney and his eternally loyal wife Lynne (Amy Adams), his rise and decline of power in Washington, D.C.
The uncanny resemblance between the real Dick Cheney and his film alter ego Christian Bale is quite fascinating. Â Bale conveys Cheney as a political shark who cunningly plots his way into the White House, manipulating weapons of mass destruction and navigating his pubic persona without placing his lesbian daughter (Mary) and continuous issues with heart health on the forefront. Oh yeah…and that shooting in Texas where the “victim” apologized for being shot.
VICE is a constant reminder of how corrupt the ideology of politicians hasn’t shifted for decades and how the person perceived to be in power is just a pawn for Congress, Senate and The House of Representatives.
Nicholas Britell (The Big Short and Moonlight) flawlessly progresses the story with his electricity infused score to perfectly compliment the shark infested waters of Dick Cheney and his shenanigans. Â Produced by Annapurna Pictures, VICE will be released nationwide on Christmas Day.
