20 Historic Emmy Nominations for African Americans!!!!
ok…y’all that follow my blog know that I usually ONLY talk about films, but baby, when they announced the nominees this morning I just couldn’t keep the excitement to myself as my peers in tv land made history setting the record for the most nominations of African-American actors EVER – 20 TOTAL!!! Not to mention that two of them hail from my alma mater Howard University (Taraji P. Henson and Anthony Anderson).
Let’s face it…2015 has been a stellar year for television and especially for people of color (that includes my Asian and Latina sista’s and brothers too, ie…Jane The Virgin and Fresh Off The Boat)! But baby, when they announced the nominees this morning I just couldn’t keep the excitement to myself.
It’s also exciting that unconventional shows like “Orange Is The New Black” and “Transparent” are getting some love! Another Emmy Nominee for Documentary, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison Belief was reviewed right here at CRC after missing it at Sundance and catching it in LA at LACMA…Check out what I said…
