The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature Review by The Curvy Film Critic

Being a big kid at heart, I’m always down for an animated film.  Nothing entertains me more than talking animals and talking babies!!!  I know…I need some serious help!

This time, my flick of choice was The Nut Job 2:  Nutty by Nature, is the sequel to the 2014 hit animated film The Nut Job, featuring the voice talents of Will Arnett (Squirrly), Maya Rudolph (Precious), Katherine Heigl (Andie), Bobby Moynihan (Mayor Muldoon), Bobby Cannavale (Frankie), Jackie Chan, Gabriel Iglesias, Peter Stormare and Jeff Dunham.

Animals are stone-cold chilling in the park, when they learn the Mayor has plans to demolish their home – Liberty Park to build an amusement park in its place.  As the amusement park, which is very reminiscent of those little pop-up carnivals, opening night nears, .the animals need to become one into order to rescue Precious, stop the Mayor and save Liberty Park!

Like most animated films these days, this one definitely makes a statement about humans having just a little more humanity for our furry friends and the environment  by working together and not against one another.  Those with money are so quick to make a buck that they will demolish anything in sight just to line their own pockets.

Director and Co-Writer Carl Brunker explained “I wanted to make a movie that was bigger and more fun than the first one.”  He added, “…directing The Nut Job 2:  Nutty By Nature  gave me the opportunity to work with an amazing team of artists around the world.  Over one hundred and fifty artists worked for over two years in order to create the characters, animation, sets, props, music  and other elements .”  “It’s also got an important message of inclusiveness.  The animals realize that by putting aside their differences arise to work together that they can accomplish anything.  Now more than ever, it’s important to embrace our differences and work together to solve problems”!  Ya hear that Washington??!!!

At a special screening for Moms and their kids hosted by The Nut Job Moms, some of the films stars Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph, Bobby Moynihan and Gabriel Iglesias participated in a kid motivated Q&A.  Here are some excerpts from that discussion…

The Nut Job 2:  Nutty By Nature opened nationwide on August 11th.  With summer officially on the way out in a few weeks, you have one more good chance to have some good old-fashioned family fun.  Check it out at a theatre near you!!!
