Simone Biles Has a Teflon Spirit and Continues Rising Like a Phoenix

Simone Biles is one of the world’s most celebrated athletes in the gymnastics with accomplishments that are numerous and well deserved.  However, the creation of this type of once in a lifetime athlete comes at a price. In the opening of Simone Biles Rising documentary series, she simply states, “I’ve always had really good intuition about things and unfortunately I felt that way about the Olympics.”

Simone Biles has unfinished business. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she was one of the biggest stories leading into the Games. But, sometimes plans sheft and the world had a front row seat as her private struggle with mental health exploded  forcing her to withdraw from the competition.  Mental health has been a topic of discussion for many athletes of this generation as they are more outspoken and willing to share the pressure endured from a career they love, yet comes with its challenges.

Since then, Simone has faced the difficult traumas of her past, learned to manage her mental health while embracing her new journey of healing.  All while rebuilding her gymnastics skills from the ground up with plans to return to the Olympic stage once again in Paris to rise  like a phoenix from the ashes.

As much as audiences may think we know about this young woman, we don’t. Biles reveals many personal details that fans may not be aware of, which speak volumes to her characters and to the type of woman she has become.  A woman who decided quality of life is paramount and that it should no longer center around what she does for a living – but who she is as a human being, wife, daughter and sister.

Since filming this series, Biles has qualified to compete in the Paris games and we are all eager to cheer her on to victory.  Yet, no one will cheer louder than her family, millions of supporters and least of all herself for she is a woman who is the human embodiment of Maya Angelou’s iconic poem “And Still I Rise.”  It is her creed and motivation to create the best of  what is yet to come.

Simone Biles Rising is an inspirational anthem for anyone struggling with mental issues while maintaining the strength and tenacity expected from others and from within.
