Diehard Comic Geeks will Fall in Love with The Avengers

OK…just like most people from my generation I am obsessed with comic book superheroes. Having said this, I realized that I have become partial to certain superheroes…particularly Superman and Ironman. It was Robert Downey, Jr. as Ironman that kept this film alive for me. Don’t get me wrong, all the superheroes did their thing, but when Ironman showed up, my interest and attention span was just a bit better..LOL.
With an all-star cast helmed by Joss Whedon, the first half of The Avengers was a little on the slow side, but perked up after about 45 minutes. Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, the man responsible for getting “the avengers” together to kick butt and Scarlett Johanson as the only female avenger, giving little girls someone to idolize a superhero are supreme standouts.
The fight sequences were spectacular, especially anything involving The Hulk, smartly portrayed by Mark Ruffalo. However, Tom Huddleston gave Loki just the right amount of venom, comedy and intensity that makes his character jump off the screen. Watching in 3D is not my favorite thing to do and thought it had died in the 50’s. But in America…”everything old is new again “!!!
Of course, at the end we are left with the knowledge that there WILL be a sequel. The kids, teens and those diehard comic fans will have a great time. Great summer flick!!!
