Review: Life Partners

IMG_0263-0.JPG

All of us have that one good girlfriend whom we share everything with! Clothes, food, war stories and so much more. However, as much as we trust and share, there always comes that time when one of us gets involved with a guy or girl and the dynamics of the friendship shift.

Often, you will feel left out, abandoned or simply stated…dissed. It’s not that your feelings change…your priorities change. It’s like my Mom always said, “People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime”

In Life Partners, Sasha (Leighton Meester) and Paige (Gillian Jacobs) are best friends in the 20’s. They drink pink wine, watch America’s Next Top Model and question each other’s dating choices. The lives shift when Sasha meets Tim, gets engaged and Paige finds herself questioning her future and her once solid friendship with Paige.

Gabourey Sidibe (Jen) was obviously a hot commodity in 2014,. In addition to this film, Sidibe appeared in American Horror Story, White Bird in a Blizzard and the final season of The Big ‘C‘, She is charming, funny and totally transformative from “Precious” which garnered her an Oscar nod a few years back. Big, Black and Beautiful, Sidibe gives Hollywood a new type of leading lady that I am ecstatic is on the horizon. Kudos for Susanna Fogel for casting her

Beth Dover as Jen is slamming pure comedy all the way around and is joyous to watch.

Meester and Jacobs are the perfect best friend combo with a chemistry that is undeniable. Adam Brody as Tim is stellar at the boyfriend who just doesn’t get anything, but the love he has for his girl, which for the most part is unwavering.

Life Partners opened earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival eariler this year and will be in limited release in theatres across the country on December 5th. Catch it if you can at a theatre near you.
