Review: About Last Night

MV5BMTk3OTc4NDMzNF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNjQ2NzY3MDE@._V1_SX146_CR0,0,146,215_Everyone has had that moment.  We have all dated someone that we’ve experienced undeniable chemistry with physically, emotionally or both.  Some of those relationships have gone on to be our husbands, wives or lost in the oblivion of that amazing animal attraction gone wrong.  However, if the relationship is meant to prevail, the chemistry will always bring you back to what attracted you in the first place.

“About Last Night”, based on the David Mamet play “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” dives head first into what attracts men and women, what makes them stay together, what makes them call it quits and what makes them keep coming back for more.

In 1986, I had the pleasure of watching the original film of the same name with an all-white cast featuring Rob Lowe, Elizabeth Perkins, Demi Moore and Jim Belushi.  It was hysterical then and it remains so in this re-tooled African-American version with Michael Ealy, Joy Bryant, Regina Hall and the man of the moment…Kevin Hart (who alone has released nearly ten films in the last three months).  I laughed out loud and was sucked into the story line of these two young couples experiencing love from two different points of view.

In this version Joan (Regina Hall) and roomie with Debbie (Joy Bryant) have been looking for love in all the wrong places, when they cross paths with Danny (Michael Ealy) and Bernie (Kevin Hart).  What ensues for the rest of the film is a lot of laughter, heartbreaking and heartwarming moments.  Kevin Hart is out of mind and worth the price of admission alone!

“About Last Night” opened on Valentine’s Day and in theaters now!!!!
