Marry Me Solidifies JLo as Undisputed Queen of Rom-Coms

Jennifer Lopez is a global superstar of epic proportions.  From a dancing Fly Girl on Fox’s sketch comedy hit “In Living Color” to a Oscar calibre performance as Selena Quintanilla in “Selena” to becoming the undisputed “Queen of Rom Coms” with such films  as “The Wedding Planner,” “Maid in Manhattan” and “Monster-In-Law” has done it again with a role closer to her real life persona in “Marry Me.”

Pop superstar Kat Valdez (Jennifer Lopez) is about to get married before an audience of her loyal fans. However, seconds before the ceremony, she learns her fiancé Bastian (Maluma) cheated with her assistant and has a meltdown on stage. In a moment of inspired insanity, Kat locks eyes with a stranger (Owen Wilson) in the crowd and marries him on the spot, leaving the unlikely couple deciding if two people from such different worlds can find true love together.

When a film leaves you with indelible hope to find true love in a digital swipe life, you know it’s done a great job.  Wearing a dress that weighs near and about 90 pounds, Jennifer Lopez will have you rooting for Kat every step of the way.  Marry Me give me vibes of Notting Hill with a little Maid in Manhattan action thrown in for measure.

This one feels personal for Lopez as a successful business woman in the industry who has endured very similar fate juggling celebrity and privacy.  – begging the question of how much is too much sharing in age of digital media.  Marry Me, in addition to making one fall in love with the concept of love, make audiences ponder how far do you go or not go for someone you love.

Jennifer Lopez is luminescent as Kat and allows you to see her heart through every glance and song. Owen Wilson is effectively understated as Charlie, a hard working  teacher and single Dad of a beautiful young girl Lou (Chloe Coleman) and Sarah Silverman as Charlie’s co-worker and hype man is pure comedy.

Touting some spectacular costumes, production design and makeup, you will be on cloud nine after screening Marry Me as it is mission accomplished in making you believe that somewhere out there, even if he or she is a stranger, is the perfect person for you to spend the rest of your life with.
