Potential Afghan threats to security are called a “good kill”. In this feature release from IFC Films and Voltage Pictures, we wonder if Major Thomas Egan (Ethan Hawke) is creating more terrorists than he’s killing or, is he fighting a war without end?
These are questions that each soldier stationed in the Middle East has asked themselves at least once.. Egan, a Las Vegas-based fighter pilot turned drone pilot, fights the terrorists for 12 hours a day, then goes home and feuds with his wife and kids for the other 12. But, at the end of the day, Egan begins to question the mission. Are these “good kills” or straight up murder?
Zoe Kravitz definitely has the acting gene passed down from Papa Lenny (Kravitz) and Mama Lisa (Bonet), not to mention the fact that she is on a real roll!!! Already in 2015, she has starred in the hit Divergent series next installment “Insurgent”, Mad Max – Fury Road and Tribeca Film Festival favorite “Dope”, not to mention two more for 2016 – “Vincent – N-Roxxy” and “Viena and the Fantomes”
Hawke, as stellar as always, doesn’t change the fact that this film moves rather slowly…interesting, but slow.
With its original debut at the Venice Film Festival last fall, quickly followed by Toronto and Tribeca this April, “Good Kill” had its theatrical U.S. release on May 15th.
